Water Intake Module

The BioDAQ water intake module was conceived and
designed as a tool to measure the episodic water intake behavior
of mice and rats. Episodic water intake allows the study of intake behavior in the context of the animal's undisturbed drinking
activity.

NO Beam-break or Lickometer

Other commercially available water intake monitors report data
periodically, using a beam break and/ or lickometer system. These systems report changes in the weight over a fixed interval of time, but give no data as to how the water was consumed. The instruments are only able to report intake in the context of fixed time points rather than in a way that includes the behavioral component of the animal’s intake activity.
